About Us

About Friends of the Libraries, Kona

We are a nonprofit association of people of all ages and occupations, who recognize the importance of excellent libraries. We assist the libraries in providing the best possible service to the community.

We provide volunteers and financial assistance to the libraries. We cooperate closely but remain independent of the libraries and promote the importance of library services to the community.

Join Our Community

Hawaii Public Libraries need many additional items for which tax funding is not allocated. F.O.L.K. provides supplementary funds for Kona library programs and items such as: circulation materials, children's programs, staff education, summer reading programs, presentations and lectures.

F.O.L.K. Membership dues, book sales revenue and other donations and grants go directly to support both the Kailua Kona and Kealakekua Public Libraries to allow our libraries to offer programs and services to our communities that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.
